Sparks

Pretty Deadly Sparks helps kids grow a strong foundation in confidence and
self-trust that can keep kids safe, help them recognize opportunities, and have
the confidence to go for them!

5 good reasons to teach kids self defense:

Learning
boundaries

How to recognize where their own boundaries are and when it’s ok to defend them.

1

Dealing with
bullying

Navigating social hierarchies and learning peer support when identifying what kind of behavior from others is acceptable, and learning the tools to defuse what isn’t.

2

Learning
empathy

Recognising and validating the differences in others, which teaches kids how to recognise the other people’s boundaries and how to respect them.

3

Healthy
communication

Learning to collaborate and cooperate through the principles of team building rather than competitive teamwork.

4

Body
positivity

Learning all the cool things the body can physically do results in improved balance, motor skills and functional fitness, as well as a healthy sense of self reliance.

We traditionally work with school curriculums to coincide with health and sex education units, but Pretty Deadly Sparks can be introduced any time. Because of the different nature of growing bodies, our courses are designed for different genders and age groups. Although the structureis the same for each group, the techniques learned and situations discussed vary slightly according to age and gender.

Thank you so much for the terrific workshop! E. not only had no angst, but she was showing off her moves to her friend who came over for a sleepover. It is fantastic - she feels empowered and wants to learn more.
